Chef Career Advice

Based on her extensive experience working within Culinary Education Industry, Lecturer, Volta Bushay offers her advice to aspiring Chefs in an attempt to help them on their journey up the career ladder:

My name is Volta Bushay, I'm Chef lecturer here Westminster Kingsway College. Any young people and leaving college and entering into the industry, my advice to them is always maintaining what skill they have learned within their actual professionalism and not to put it to one side but to use it to the best of their ability.

Young Chef can expect to work hard and you know there's a there's a lot of career scope for them if they're prepared to work hard for it. The best career advice I have been given personally on a personal level was for me to actually forget everything that I'm learned and start fresh.

When a candidate applies to the College getting ready for a course we're looking for a student who actually wants to be committed and wants this as much as they want anything else as a career. When a candidate leaves a college most employer will expect them to have the necessary skill to be able to use it in their workforce and to provide a service for their customer.
