Gordon Ramsay has announced Matt Worswick as the Executive Head Chef at Savoy Grill.

Taking to social media yesterday, the 3 Michelin-starred chef wrote: “Welcome to the team Matt!”

It was announced in December last year that Matt would takeover as executive chef at Jason Atherton's The Shanghai EDITION in February 2020 however, Coronavirus impacted on this role, but he says he’s now excited to be joining Gordon, the team and working in such an iconic venue.

He added: “I’m really excited about what the future will bring for Savoy Grill and where we can take it in the future with the full support of Gordon and the excellent restaurant group team.”

Matt previously held a Michelin star at The Latymer at Pennyhill Park where he was head chef for four years. Originally from Liverpool he learnt his trade at Teän at St. Martins-on-the-Isle on The Isles of Scilly with Kenny Atkinson. He says Le Champignon Sauvage, working under David Everritt-Matthias was his ‘finishing school’ and he took these skills to Glenapp Castle, holding the Michelin star there aged 26. He moved on to Thornton Hall before taking over as head chef at The Latymer, replacing Michael Wignall.

He has appeared on Great British Menu and MasterChef: The Professionals.
