NAME

Gabriella

AGE

29

Where are you from/where do you live?

Born and grew up in Southport and has lived in Liverpool for the past 10 years.

What type of a chef are you?

Sous Chef

Do you have a favourite type of cuisine?

“My style of cooking is all about flavour. I don't like to over complicate things. I love to bring memories into my recipes to create something delicious, but something that will also stay with you. My biggest influences are my family and travelling, which really inspires me when I'm cooking.”

How did you become a chef?

“For as long as I can remember, food has been the centre of my life. We were eating my mum’s homemade sugo with pasta as babies. Making sugo with my mum at the age of eight, stirring the sauce, the smell of garlic and onion frying in olive oil reminds me of home. And I love that food can do that. I love how you can transform a single ingredient into something incredible that can bring people together who can share the same love!”

Where have you worked?

Left school at 16 and went to catering college. Worked in London Carriage Works as first professional kitchen. Ran a Chalet in Meribel, France for six months. Set up a small business with a friend selling street food around Manchester. Various jobs in Liverpool before ending up in the family business for the past five and a half years.

What has been the highlight of your career to date?

“The highlight of my career must be winning Cuoco of the Year in 2019 at the English Italian Cooking Awards”

Why did you want to take part in MasterChef: The Professionals?

“I've always been absolutely terrified at the thought of entering MasterChef: The Professionals. It was my little sister who made me do it! I've never felt ready to do something as big or challenging as this. I'm so glad she made me apply!”
