The 2021 Michelin Guide awards ceremony for the UK and Ireland will take place at 6pm on January 25 2021. It is not yet clear how it will be announced due to Covid 19 restrictions - there will no longer be an event held at a London venue.

The new one star restaurants in 2020 included The Oak Room at Adare Manor in Ireland under chef Mike Tweedie, Aktar Islam’s Birmingham flagship, Opheem, Mana in Manchester under Simon Martin - the first for the city in 40 years - Michael Wignall’s The Angel at Hetton, Pensons in Tenbury Wells under chef Lee Westcott, The Tudor Room under Tony Parkin – after just five months of his tenure there. 

As the number of Michelin-starred restaurants in London continued to grow – including Endo Kazutoshi’s Endo at The Rotunda and Mãos with a single star - elsewhere in the UK was celebrated too: Muddlers’ Club took the fourth star for Belfast under Gareth McCaugher and another single star was given to Variety Jones in Dublin under chef Keelan Higgs, as was Hywel Griffith’s Beach House in Oxwich, Wales.

Michelin broke with convention when it gave a single restaurant – Alchemilla, in Nottingham - a star ahead of the official launch.
